SCENE 01 — WHY

Why coverage hits different for working actors.

POINT 01

Income that swings with the booking calendar

Subsidies on the ACA marketplace are based on projected annual income — perfect for actors with variable gig pay. We model your subsidy as you go and help you update it mid-year when bookings change.

POINT 02

Mental health & therapy on every plan

Audition rejection is its own job hazard. Every ACA-compliant plan we surface includes therapy, psychiatry, and telehealth. We can filter to plans with strong behavioral health networks in your city.

POINT 03

SAG-AFTRA Health vs. ACA — modeled side by side

If you hit SAG-AFTRA earnings minimums, you may qualify for union health. Most working actors pair union or pension coverage with an ACA plan to fill the gaps in qualifying quarters. We show you both.

POINT 04

Coverage that travels between locations

Booked in another state for six weeks? PPO and national-network EPO plans honor in-network rates across multiple states. We filter for plans that work where you actually shoot, audition, and live.

SCENE 05 — FAQ

Set FAQs.

SCENE 01
I'm 1099 with no W-2 — does that disqualify me?
Not at all. The ACA marketplace was built for self-employed and gig workers. Bring a reasonable projection of annual income (production fees + residuals + day-rate work) and we'll calculate the subsidy.
SCENE 02
Can I deduct my premiums against production income?
Self-employed health insurance is generally deductible above the line on Schedule C if you're filing as a sole proprietor or single-member LLC. We model the deduction before you enroll so you see net cost, not gross premium.
SCENE 03
What if I qualify for SAG-AFTRA Health mid-year?
You can usually drop ACA coverage when union health kicks in (it counts as a qualifying life event). We help you time the transition so there's no gap or double premium.
SCENE 04
I shoot in three states next year. PPO or HMO?
PPO almost always — HMOs typically only honor in-network rates in one service area. National-network PPOs from carriers like Aetna, Cigna, and BCBS multi-state are usually the right call for traveling performers.
SCENE 05
Will I lose my therapist if I switch carriers?
Only if they're out of network on the new plan. We check each plan against your existing providers before you enroll — including therapists, psychiatrists, and PCPs.
